Assault Charges?!?!?!?

On Monday, July 30, my friend was assaulted by her exboyfriend, she was so shaken up that she didn't leave the house for a couple days, but finally on Thursday night I got her to report it to the police....he hasn't been arrested and in the news paper it said that the case was "Documented and sent to the County Attorney's Office for Review". We live in a very rural area, the entire county has a popluation slightly higher than 8,000. Do you know how long it will take for the County Attorney to decide if he is going to take the ex-boyfriend to court for assault?

It depends on the specific rules for that state and county (and sometimes city), but it couldn't hurt to call them and find out what the specific procedure is. Some courthouses even have victim's services offices or counselors that are trained and hired to help you and to answer all of your questions. Just go to the website for that county, or just look up the number for the courthouse in the yellow pages.
