is it safe to travel in canada?

I was just reading online that another drunk Canadian has been killed in Mexico while travelling and that there are 3 assaults for every 100,000 canadians in Mexico.

Then i read that there are 732 assaults for every 100,000 Canadians in Canada- which got me really scared- There are 244 Times greater chance of being assaulted in Canada than in Mexico, as a Canadian!

I'm a Canadian living in Mexico now and am traveling to Canada this summer- What are the chances we'll be safe?

HELP!

Update:

Those stats are true- government stats...

so if Canada is 244 times more dangerous than Mexico, why has the Canadian government called Mexico Dangerous and not Saskatoon???

Either our government is hiding the risk of danger in Canada, or greatly exagerating the danger in Mexico...

Update 2:

Speculation?? He and his wife were kicked out of the bar at 1 am- he returned twice only to have his friends tell him to go back to the room...

The stats don't lie- they are what they are- a Canadian has a much greater chance (244 Times as much) of being assaulted violently in Canada than in Mexico. Saskatoon is more dangerous than Cancun...

Thing is- Canadians act like drunken idiots in foreign countries more so than at home...

    ArE yoU for ReaL???

Canada is the safest place in the world!!!

And there's no proof that the guy from Alberta was drunk. Just speculation...

The best assurance you can get in Canada that you can't get anywhere else (including Mexico) is that IF you do need to go to a hospital, you can go without worrying about being charged and knowing that the system is somewhat professional. I needed to go to a hospital once in Mexico (Cancun) and opted not to because I saw a cat (yes a feline!) wandering out the door! Yikes!

Reply to my fellow Canadian living in Mexico:

Have you been to both Saskatoon and Cancun? From personal experience, Toon Town is full of friendly country folk trying to be a 'big' city. Cancun is another kind of 'sin city' waiting for its next victim to prey on.

I would like to see the 'evidence' of Canada's safety being lower than Cancun's safety. I'm sure you could walk through Saskatoon blindfolded without getting a scratch. In Quintana Roo's wonderful city, you wouldn't make it across the street without getting mugged.....

    That's my feeling anyway...

    Good luck to you.

This message brought to you by the scary Okanagan country in BC....

    :)

Look at the total violent crime rate for both countries, NOT just crimes committed against Canadians, and you'll see the difference.

Consider the fact that almost every violent crime in Canada is committed against a Canadian. In Mexico, they have many different tourists to commit crimes against; you should add up ALL the violent crimes in Mexico and ALL the violent crimes in Canada before you make any kind of comparison.

Canada a very safe place and is actually one of the safest places to live. Most folks in my neighborhood don't even lock their doors because they just don't think its really important. It's only dangerous right now if you're a Buffalo Sabres fan (NHL hockey). I'll bet that those stats are either wrong or they take into account disputes that take place on the ice.

don't worry Canada is a very safe country. i don't think you should make that your concern, i don't that you should even think about that. I'm pretty sure you are not 244 times greater of being assaulted in Canada. i assure you are going to be fine. if you got this from a very unpopular/uncommon website don't trust it. if you are looking for information like this go to a well known website about travelling to other places.

look on the finished violent crime fee for each countries, no longer in elementary terms crimes dedicated in direction of Canadians, and you will have the potential to confirm the version. do no longer forget approximately the certainty that in basic terms approximately each and every violent crime in Canada is dedicated in opposition to a Canadian. In Mexico, they have many specific travelers to dedicate crimes against; you need to upload up the full violent crimes in Mexico and all the violent crimes in Canada in the previous than you're making any style of evaluation.
