dell's are usually decent. If your serious about computing though, or if you just want more memory, you need to build your own system. But yes, dell's really do need more memory, especially if they expect to handle vista.

    Michelle,

    A couple of points:

    1. How much Memory do you have?

    2. What all do you use your machine (Desktop or laptop?) for?

Dell isn't bad at all - there are very few makers in the market who are better, and not by much.

All of it depends on how much you have compromised while purchasing to keep the intial price low

If your OS is Vista - you'll need a bare minimum of 1Gig as RA memory. BUt Dell will allow you to purchase it in case you want it.

I think its Dell After Sales Support that really sucks, and I have an HP dv6000z. Paid 100K to double the memory, but really worth it!

Ifyou can help it make sure your memory is at a higher speed as well (if your CPu supports it) - 667 MHz would be ideal
