What's wrong with our cat?
Our cat is acting very strange lately. Here are his symptoms:
- Sits in the corner sulking. Doesn't move much
- Licks his bum more than usual.
- Isn't eating as much
- His bum seems to hurt him... he gets upset when we lift his tail to look at it.
- His pupils are dilated, even in really bright rooms
Can anyone help? We can't get a vet appt 'til Saturday.

Hi there...some of these symtpoms appear to indicate an underlying medical problem such a lower urinary tract disorder: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_feline_lower_... . Some cats develop urethral blockage which will cause nausea-like symptoms (lack of appetite) this can become life-threatening within 24-48 hours and needs URGENT medical attention: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/urinary_blockage.h...

He definitely has a problem. Is he constipated? I'd call the vet back and get a quicker appt. Good luck.

Licking his rear end & sulking could be a sign of a urinary tract infection, or impacted anal glands. Really you need to see vet to get a definite answer. Don't let your pet suffer!

For now, I would say just leave him alone, and the vet will probably find out what it is for sure. Maybe what you're doing right now is making it hurt worse. But thats just what i think, I'm not sure.

This does seem strange.Even though your appointment is Saturday.Call your vet again and ask if there is anything you can use or anything you can give him until then.

I'd call your vet at home....tell him its an emergency! I don't know whats wrong with him, but, it doesn't sound good. But, I would look at his butt, whether he liked it or not. Maybe he's cut or something....check it at least. Then call your vet at home! Good luck!
