  • What's going on with my outlet?

I was running my pool pump with a 16 gauge extention cord connected to my outside outlet. The cord was getting hot, and when I checked the plug it was like burnt where the prongs were and also burnt my outlet a little. I changed to outlet on the outside, and bought a 14 gauge cord, and I am now running my pool pump with the 14gauge extention cord from my outside house outlet. It's a regular outlet on the outside as before, but it is connected to a GCFI outlet on the inside. I turned the pump on for 8 hours, and what do you know my new 14 gauge extention cord has like melted on one side of the prong. What is going on?

  • What do you do when your son quits school, and doesn't want to work?

My son moved in with his dad last year because he didn't like the rules. His dad left his wife, and my son quit school right after. He was staying with his friends where he is not welcome anymore because he basically mooched from them for 2 months. We've had a rocky relationship for the past 2 years. I told him before he could move in with us that he would have to get a job or go back to school. He's 18yrs. old now with no work ethics. He sleeps till noon-he's on the internet all thru the day, plays his guitar-eats, and waits till his friends get outa school at 3 and then he makes plans with them.

I have tried to tell him many times to look for a job. It's not that I don't want him here by any means-it's just that he can't sit around here all day while I do everything. My husband has always worked to support us, but I feel that my son needs to help support himself now. How do I tell him outa love and sterness that either he gets a job or goes to school or else he's out? Please help with serious answers.

  • A real question to Bible believers...?

I was wondering if any one knew where at in GOD's Word that it talks about that man who picked up the cross for Jesus as He walked to Calvary?

This is a serious question, and I'd like someone, a believer of Jesus Christ, with some knowledge of the bible to tell me.

Please do not respond to this question with bad remarks mocking, making fun of GOD or His people in any way. Thank you

  • What can I do about this property?

My family has lived at this property since 1976-77. The company they bought it from went out of business before my parent's could pay the property off. The business just up and left one day without letting them know. Well, now I am buying this property from my parents. I am waiting on the abstractors to search the title. I was just wondering if anyone has ever been in this situation before? Also, the last known deed to this property is in the Lease company's name that my parent's bought it from. If they don't exist-how will the deed ever get transferred?

  • Why shouldn't he have to pay child support?

My son will be 18 next month. His dad still owed like 24 grand in child support thru the years. He actually quit working for a pay check years ago and now plays music for a living, and he also does side jobs for cash. (I know why he did this) Well, he signed up for Disability 2 years ago claiming that he was bipolar and this & that. It took 2 years for him to receive his checks. The state caught up with him, and now they are taking child support out of his social security checks. His wife now is furious. She is claiming to the court that my X doesn't need to be supporting me. My son now lives with his father and has for the past 6 months, and he's mad cause his dad has to pay. Well, I have raised him alone since he was 3. They claim since my x is incompetent now that he shouldn't pay the back pay that he's owed for so long. What do you think? It's now like I need the money, but all those years when I did he never helped unless I pushed the issue in court.

  • What can be done about my contract...?

I have a problem if anyone can help me. My husband & I signed a contract for deed to buy our home last year. From the May 8 storm here in Southern Illinois we had some damage on our home. We filed a claim with the insurance company, but she received that money since we pay her the ins. & taxes due. She isn't willing to hand the money over. I feel that since we are buyers of the home-we should have the right to fix our home with this money. So, my question is: Can we get out of this contract?

This is the only thing the contract says about forfeiting:

"Should the buyer fail to make the payments herein provided for, either of purchase money or taxes, or fail to perform any of the covenants hereof, assignment for the general benefit of creditors of or by the buyer, the seller may declare this contract forfeited, in which event the buyer shall forfeit such payments and same may be retained by the seller in full satisfaction and in liquidation of all damages sustained by seller".

Does this mean that she can sue us for the full payment of home if we want out?

It's just wrong what she's doing to us. She has used all the lawyers around here so it would be conflict of interest.

Is there anything else we can do? Thanks

  • Does anyone know what this toy is called?

It's a classic toy. I haven't seen around, and I can't remember what it's called. It has all the farm animals on it like a clock and an arrow pointing to one of them-you pull the string and it makes that sound of whatever animal the arrow landed on. If you know what this toy is called-please help me out. Thanks

  • Does she have a right or do I?

I am buying my house contract for deed. I pay mortgage, taxes, and insurance directly to the lady I bought the house from as stated in the contract. I have storm damage to my house so I called the adjuster from the home's insurance company. She met with my insurance consultant and ok'd everything. So, I hired a contractor and signed a contract for my roof and they finished my roof yesterday. The only problem is that my name isn't on the insurance policy for the home so I have to go through the person I'm buying it from. She is to receive the check from the insurance company since it is in her name, but she told me I have to pay outa pocket for this because my name isn't on the policy. She is refusing payment on anything done to my home. If I pay her the taxes/insurance on my home and am buying it-don't I have a right to say who is to be working on my home? What can I do?

  • What does a mother do?

I have a 17yr. old boy. He has been very disrespectful to me. He can't deal with being disciplined. He's very disrespectful to me and his step dad, he's failing school with F's, and he doesn't want to do anything around the house. It's like pulling teeth to get him to work around here. I had recently "grounded" him last week because I've had enough of it.

Last night, he tells me that he's wanting to move in with one of his friends and that his friend's mom said it was okay. I was pretty ticked. He didn't mention his living with his dad. We've been through this before going to his dad's when he's mad at me and coming back home when things don't go his way there. So, he thought that he could stay with a friend to get away. For one I'm upset with this friend's mother for telling him that she's okay with it and not consulting with me. Anyway, my son snuck out thru his window. I called his dad and told him what was going on. I went to this friend's house, and no one came to the door. My son, 30 minutes later, called his dad to talk to him. One hour later, his dad's calling me telling me that our son told him that he doesn't want to come back home. I said TOO BAD. So, now I'm ticked off with his dad because my son is getting exactly what he wants, and his dad is okaying everything. My son never goes and visits his dad, hardly. I ask him to, but the only time he wants to and does is when he's grounded. So, I know what this is all about. It still hurts, though. I feel like I've failed as a mom when I've done the best I knew how to raise him. Do I just say, "Go, and don't come back." Do I just wait it out knowing that he's going to get into it with his dad and his wife. Last time he did this he wouldn't talk to me for weeks, but then when him and his dad were arguing he begged to come home.

  • If you broke someone's house window on accident with a lawnmower hitting a rock into it:?

And you, just because it's the right thing to do, asked them for an estimate of how much it would cost to replace it or to buy a new one. They give you an estimate-you give them the check for the amount, but they never get the window replaced. In one way I'm thinking it's wrong because the money should had went toward the window replacement but another way I'm thinking it shouldn't matter since I broke the window. I don't know, what do you all think about it?

  • A question about ovulation?

I was wondering...I have had my period on the 28th day for the past 3 months except for this month-it came on day 26. So, I started taking my OT tests earlier like on the 9th day. I know that I was most fertile yesterday because of my cervical mucus, but the OT tests was rather faded for the positive. I took another OT test today and it was positive for sure. See, I'm really trying to narrow it down to the final day because my husband has (slow sperm). This means that we have to time it almost exactly when the egg is moving down. So, I don't know what to do. You know, it gets really frustrating sometimes.

I'd just like to know how long do I have after the cervical mucus starts that ovulation takes place?
