How will we be entertained?
Since Yahoo Answers has made the decision to shut down (for whatever reason, since they had previously prevented people from commenting on answers), what are we, the followers of the esteemed Jacob/Kenneth/Anonymous/whoever he decided to be for the moment, going to do for entertainment/enlightenment on the ravings of a psychopath? In other forums on the site (such as Home & Garden, Health, Food & Drink, etc.), there was actually some good information given. Facebook, which Yahoo is choosing to keep, is actually dull compared to Y! A. Rats!
2 AnswersYahoo Answers4 weeks agoWhy is the name "Grape Soda" considered racist?
This is not intended as a racially charged question. I read that a horse trainer was charged for naming the horse he was working with "Grape Soda", and that it is considered as a racial slur toward black people. Would someone enlighten me about that, because I've never heard that before. Thanks.
24 AnswersLaw & Ethics4 months agoHow certain will travel be in the spring of 2021?
I originally had travel plans to go from TX to AZ last May (2020), but those plans were cancelled. Then I was set to go in October, but the airline was in trouble and was furloughing many people. Now I'm scheduled to go in April. The airline has changed my flight date, flight number and time of the flight four times since November. They're telling me I will have 14 days to let them know if their latest arrangement doesn't suit me. I have been talking to people in AZ, and the state is pretty well shut down. Also, I don't know what the status of the airline will be by then. I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed and see, but if COVID doesn't let up by then, I'm, afraid the trip will be cancelled for good.
6 AnswersAir Travel4 months agoDo I need an attorney?
I have a 90 year-old friend of nearly 50 years, who recently took out a large loan to refurbish her house. One of the things that needs replacing/repaired is her heating and cooling system. Since I had my home remodeled a few years ago, she asked me to recommend someone to perform that service. I gave her the name of the company who replaced our old heating/cooling unit, who had always given excellent service. Evidently she hired them, and they did the work she asked them to do which included her request that it be as inexpensively as possible. She called yesterday, and screamed that she was going to call her state representative, the Better Business Bureau, and her lawyer to sue the company because they didn't replace her duct work, which would have been an added expense. She is also going to sue me for recommending them. I told her to read the contract she had signed, and see what it said. (It said she didn't want her duct work replaced due to added cost). She said that didn't matter, because they "took advantage of an old woman". She told me to expect a letter from her attorney telling me she is suing me for recommending "those crooks". Knowing her past behaviors toward businesses, I'm quite sure she is deadly serious. My question is, do I need to hire an attorney to defend myself, or will the contract she signed be sufficient evidence of her ineptness? Her attorney is known to be an "ambulance chaser" type who will file frivolous lawsuits to get publicity.
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics4 months agoHas our "autistic friend" moved over to the Health forum?
There are three posts in the Health forum that sound suspiciously like our friend Jacob/Kenneth. The posts complain about 1) his parents not allowing him to do what he wants to and he's "tired of it", 2) he's 30 and thinking about suicide and he's talked to suicide hotlines, and 3) whether he should take off a week from the internet and decide whether he's going to commit suicide. It's too bad no one is allowed to post comments in answer to posts.
2 AnswersMental Health9 months agoWhat are the chances my flight will be canceled altogether?
I have a flight booked from Dallas to Phoenix in October on Southwest Airlines. The original flight date was for May, but COVID-19 shut that down. Since both AZ and TX are "red zone" states as far as the virus is concerned, a person can travel from one of those states to the other, but not to a lesser infected area. Southwest has changed the times of the flight (changing plane/flight numbers) three times within the past week, citing low passenger numbers for the flights and employee layoffs. I'm thinking that Southwest is dire straits, and by the time October gets here, the airline may be shut down. They're not giving refunds, but transfers to flight dates that are "further out" ending in July of 2021. I'm thinking I may have to end up driving (a two-day drive) and I will lose my ticket money altogether if things don't improve.
4 AnswersAir Travel9 months agoReality of the severity of COVID-19?
I find it amazing that with all of the hype over the past three months about social distancing, mask-wearing, hand washing, businesses being shut down, and no contact less than 6 ft. among people, these protests that have cropped up don't mention any of the fears about COVID-19. It's as if everything just went away and there's no more mention of being ordered to stay away from one another. Hordes of protestors are marching everywhere, in very close proximity. Now, if none of them get sick and no one dies from the virus as a result of the protests, what does that say about the validity of the seriousness of the COVID-19? Did the entire world need to be shut down?
1 AnswerRussia11 months agoI guess the rumors tabloids have been putting out about Charles divorcing Camilla are true. Just read on the internet news that the Queen?
summoned Camilla and told her Charles would be divorcing her "without a penny", and that she is a drunken disgrace. Camilla was demanding $380 million to keep her mouth shut about dirty little family secrets. Will the throne still go to Charles, or does the Queen believe that William and Catherine should be the nominees? The Queen is said to be also unhappy with Catherine, because she still acts too much like a commoner, wears her hair too long, and refuses to put fish weights in her skirts. What a dilemma to face when one is 88! What do the people in the U.K. think?
11 AnswersRoyalty7 years agoI have a serious situation that I'm going to be facing soon. I befriended a woman (the sister of another?
friend). The woman was widowed at 36, and she became very depressed and ended up as an alcoholic. As a result, her siblings rejected her and she has been unable to work steadily due to her depression. She survives by reason of her family's having "old money" from oil, property, investments, etc. She put both of her children through college, she went through alcohol detox and has been sober since 2007. Because of her past drinking, however, she is the embarrassment of the family, and her children were also ashamed of her. Her daughter, in particular, has totally estranged herself from her mother. The daughter inherited a lot of precious jewelry and valuable items when the grandmother died, and she also thought she was entitled to a large monetary settlement. It was explained to her that the money from the grandparents went to her mother and the mother's siblings, not directly to grandchildren. Her comment was, "Oh, so my mother has to die before I get anything. Hmmm." During this past year, her mother has become quite ill (possibly terminal). She rewrote her will, paid off her son's final college debt and is preparing herself to die. She is 53 and the daughter is 28. The daughter hasn't seen her in eight months, and claims that her mother is only faking illness to get attention. My personal opinion is that the woman is dying of a broken heart. Her daughter found out that her mother has changed the terms of her will and some insurance policies that would have been p.o.d.'s, and she (the daughter) will not immediately get a huge amount of money. Since I am virtually the only person who is her mother's friend, she is now claiming that I have unduly influenced her mother, that I have secretly been skimming money out of her mother's accounts, and that I am taking advantage of her mother's "fragile mental state". She has put out the word to everyone that she is going to sue me for everything I have the minute her mother dies, and that she will "destroy me". I'm 75 years old, I'm physically disabled, I live on a fixed income, and I don't have access to any of her mother's money. Her mother keeps a large amount of cash in a safe in her closet as well as having bank accounts. Her daughter claims I am systematically stealing by begging the mother for loans. I have never done this, because it's not my money and I get by all right just as I am. I have no way to prove my innocence, and I hate to break off my friendship with this poor woman. How can I protect myself, besides hiring an attorney (which I'm going to have to do).

4 AnswersImmigration8 years agoHas anyone been treated for a severe cystocele, and if so, what method was used?used?
It's my understanding that mesh was previously used during surgeries, and now that has been discontinued because it caused infections and sometimes permanent damage. Kegel exercises are ineffective at this stage, and I think surgery is my only option. I just wonder what to expect.
1 AnswerWomen's Health8 years agoHas anyone with a moderate-severe heart condition been denied a medication by their insurance company?
My cardiologist prescribed a certain medication for my particular condition, and Aetna is attempting to force me to take a generic, cheaper med. (There isn't a generic for the prescribed one). They're also assigning me a "prevention specialist" nurse who is supposed to help me learn exercises and a diet that will supposedly wean me off most, if not all, my meds. I'm wondering if this is the norm for what's coming with the Affordable Healthcare Plan. I'm 75, I already exercise, have been through cardiac rehab, and I follow a cardiac diet. I feel like Big Brother is watching me.
8 AnswersHeart Diseases8 years agoI have watched several videos of various European royal weddings and other?
countries besides the U.K. (Sweden, Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, etc.) to get a flavor for the way the people feel toward their royalty. In those countries, the people seem much more affectionate and closer toward their kings/queens than the British do toward the British monarchy, there is none of the morbid curiosity over pregnancies and the paparazzi don't follow the royals around. . Rather, royal christenings are celebrated by the entire communities in their churches and the public is invited. Is it because the other royal families present themselves to be more "human" and warmer toward their subjects? They don't seem to mind being touched and loved by their countrymen. I would think their standing in their countries is just as regal as that of Queen Elizabeth. Maybe it's because their countries aren't as wealthy and don't have all of the "trappings" of multiple palaces, crowns, royal coaches, etc.
7 AnswersRoyalty8 years agoWe are planning to visit St. Croix next year, and we're looking for a reasonable hotel that is clean.?
The only resort I know about is the Buccaneer, and prices start at well over $300 a night. We just want something that is clean and safe--not luxurious. If anyone has been there, please give me some names so I can look them up. I would prefer something that is family-owned, if possible.
