  • debt collection letter response was ignored..now what?

Sometime in April I got a letter from a collection agency saying that I owed money. In response I sent a certified letter to them asking them to provide proof. I have the signed certified letter receipt saying that they received it but I just got a "second notice" from them that says I didn't respond to their first letter. What do I do next?

  • How can I redeem a Toyota battery warranty on a used 09 Corolla?

I just took the battery out of my girlfriend's 09 Corolla and took it to Auto Zone to have them charge it after the car died on the road. As it turned out they said the battery is bad and won't hold a charge. The battery has a sticker on it that says "60 month warranty" and since the battery is only 3 years old that means it should still be covered. She bought the car used and I know the original warranty on the rest of the car is expired but would the warranty on the battery still be honored and if so would I just take it to a Toyota service center to have them replace it?

  • Police "professional courtesy" and speeding tickets...?

It's no secret that police let each other off the hook for speeding and other "minor" infractions. What is the justification for this? If I, a civilian, get pulled over for speeding I can expect a ticket or at the very least a lecture about safety. Speed limits are, at least allegedly, there to keep us safe. How can it be justified that police officers who are expected to enforce the laws don't even respect the law enough to follow them? They create an unwritten system where they are above the law and call it professional courtesy; why should I, as a civilian, follow the law if police don't? Why are police held to a lower standard than the average person instead of a higher standard? I certainly expect those charged with enforcing the law to obey the laws as strictly as they enforce them. Is there any justification for this hypocrisy?

  • What are the down sides to buying 5 year old paintball guns?

I was thinking about buying a PM7 or similar and I'm wondering if the reason the price is so discounted to the new version is simply because so many bigger and better things have come out since then or if it is because the functionality of guns diminishes a lot over time. I know O-rings will need to be replaced and maybe even the electronics but will an old gun still work well?

  • Is there such a thing as insurance against Lasik problems?

I'm thinking about getting Lasik but the potential problems associated with it has the potential to ruin or at least severely diminish my ability to work or enjoy life. As such, I would be very interested in getting an insurance policy (obviously before the procedure) and then if something bad happened I'd get some amount of cash to help me resume my life. I've googled this but the search results are flooded with people asking if their health/vision insurance covers what is essentially a cosmetic procedure. Just to be clear I'm not asking for that I fully expect full price out of pocket.

  • What would an extended service warranty cost for a 97 BMW Z3 with 99k miles?

I am looking into buying one and thought I'd look into getting a warranty to go along with the car. I tried to price up a policy on several sites but none give even a ballpark price without putting in personal information and I really don't want to be called by sales people.

  • Questions getting deleted?

Sometimes I answer questions that I bookmark. Later, I go back to see what others have answered only to discover that the question has been deleted as a violation of community guidelines. The questionsIi answer seem perfectly fine to me. Is there anyway to dispute a question getting deleted or to at least find out why the question was deleted?

  • mapped nas hard drive performance...?

I have a NAS HD mapped. If I copy files to it it goes at a rate of about 2.5MB/s on 802.11g. I have VZ fios which can d/l at around 1MB/s. If I set my NAS as the destination folder will my internal network become the bottleneck of my downloading files because of extra overhead of data going to the computer and then having to go to the NAS or will the internet connection itself remain the bottleneck.

(I just bought the NAS, i plan to upgrade to 802.11N but just asking for the interim)

  • samsung lcd flickering vertical lines?

TV is just out of warranty. When the TV has been off for a while and is turned on it will be OK. The right half of the screen will start to flicker. After it has been on for a while, the flickers turn to multicolored vertical lines. The lines will change color and pattern sporadically. They will always take up the entire right half. The sound is fine and the left side of the TV is fine too.

I've been googling and can't find anything like this. Does anybody have any ideas? Is it the screen itself or the electronics?

  • Does anyone get free meals from saying no to drugs?

In the "abovetheinfluence" commercial where there is a group of black (plus the token white) kids in a diner looking place talk about getting twisted. Two of them leave after initially talking about getting twisted while the other two stay because they have to hit the books. After hearing the kid say he's going to hit the books; the guy behind the counter refuses to charge the kid for the lunch.

Has anything even close to this ever happened to someone in real life?

Also, according to urbandictionary getting twisted doesn't have to do with drugs yet abovetheinfluence.com is an anti-drug campaign. Can someone reconcile that for me.
