Why do some people think gender dysphoria is "low self esteem"?
That's not what gender dysphoria is. It's when someone's body and/or how they are treated doesn't match their gender. Since you can't change someone's gender, the only cure to gender dysphoria is to change someone's body/how they are treated to match their gender.
I can assure you from personal experience that I previously thought my gender dysphoria was a self-esteem issue. I tried to fix it the way ome would fix a self-esteem problem. I reminded my self that I am not ugly. I tried staring at myself in the mirror until I got used to how I looked. It didn't work. Then, I realized it was gender dysphoria and tried ways to deal with dysphoria instead. Such as wearing a hoodie and transitioning. These things work.
@Anonymous are you looking in a mirror?
@cybermystpage That study has only 324 participants and it is old. It says "Our findings suggest that sex reassignment, although alleviating gender dysphoria." The study says that sex reassignment gets rid of gender dysphoria. Have you considered that maybe the suicide rates went up because of transphobia? They obviously didn't go up because of gender dysphoria.

***EDIT: Attributing suicide rates to social acceptance forgets one very key and important comparison: If lack of social acceptance and being treated badly by others were the reason for their issues, then you would expect the suicide rates for blacks during slavery and up through segregation and jim crowe to be higher than average.
It wasn't. In fact, blacks have a lower suicide rate than the average. Do you believe that persons with gender dysphoria have it worse than slaves did? Really?

There has been ONE, just one long term scientific study done, in Europe, to compare post trans to pre trans persons with gender dysphoria (which is what ALL TRANS are). The reason they did the study was to support the movement, to show that post-trans persons were better adjusted and living better lives.
They found the exact opposite. Post-trans persons had a higher suicide rate than pre-trans and the majority had significant difficulties that mirrored their pre-trans lives, often made worse by the realization that the surgery did nothing to fix their mental illness.
You can try and lie about this all you want. These are the facts. It is great to try to live in a world where you "fix all the problems" and laugh with glee while singing kumbaya, but the fact of the matter with gender dysphoria is crystal clear to those who aren't being ignorant about this study: Trans surgery doesn't fix the problem for most persons with gender dysphoria because the actual problem is NOT rooted in "I'm the wrong gender", it's rooted in self loathing, hatred, and self esteem issues.
