Found this in my yard, any clue what it is? ?

It smells a bit like carrots and I am considering putting it in a salad. I want to know what it is so I can find a good recipe

Update:

so I can't put it in a salad?

Possibly Queen Anne's Lace. The carrot-like root is edible when young.

Be careful that it is not the deadly look-alike, Poison Hemlock.

Queen Anne's Lace smells like carrot and the stems are hairy.

Poison Hemlock smells disgusting and the stems are smooth.

Download one of the plant identification apps. You take a picture of the plant, and the app tells you what it is.

It's something in the carrot family (Umbelliferae) for sure, but so is poisonous hemlock and giant hogweed.  You shouldn't even touch umbellifers barehanded unless you know what they are.  Some people are extremely sensitive to the combination of their sap and sunlight.

I believe trolls can digest anything.
