A potential problem means one that will become a problem in future .Eventually means in the end ,especially after a long time .

"potentially" probably was used to suggest that he might message her.
"eventually" was most likely used to suggest that he would message her at some later time.

Its actually un-necessary to use both potentially and eventually. All this means is that this guy is not very invested in the idea of messaging this person at all. Its basically the same thing as saying "Maybe when I get around to it".
