I have been working at a restaurant for a year and they won’t give me a raise. Should I quit?

talk to your manager about it.

Dont quit until you find another job.

Ask them for a raise, and provide reasons why they should give it to you.

If you can make more somewhere else, find that now job and take it.

Maybe, but only after you have secured a new job willing to pay you the higher wage you demand from your present employer.  If you can't do so, you can't prove you deserve more.

Do whatever you want...but stay employed until you get yourself another job......... fact is with covid many employers simply can't afford to pay more, you have a job which means you are better off than many other people who lost their jobs due to covid especially in the hospitality industry

No. you need to face reality.

Showing up on time and taking extra shifts is only part of a job. Your performance should be taken into consideration when it comes to raises as well. You may be a hard worker, but are you doing what's asked of you when they ask for it to be done and doing them well, are you making a lot of mistakes, is something about you off putting to your co workers or your boss... Talk to your boss, see if they're willing to give you a small raise, if not why and ask if there's any thing you should improve on to get a raise.

If you feel you are worth more than your current pay, then you do what you can to get paid more.  That includes looking elsewhere for a new job.  Until you get that new job, there is no way to know if your current pay is reasonable or not.

You could always look for something better. But don't quit until you have another job lined up.

In many places in the world, the restaurant business has been severely impacted by covid.  They might simply not have enough money to give you a raise.

I hear about owners that aren't taking any money so that they can keep their employees at work.
