Where are oldprof, oubaas, NCS, Neb, Bill Russell and others?
With Yahoo about to close I wanted a chance to say "Goodbye, it has been an honour to know you all".
For a decade or so I attempted to answer physics questions given that I have a love of the subject and a lifetime of practical application. During this time I have "met" so many good people who have given their time freely to so many others. Obviously I only know you via your answers yet because you answer so many I have a significant idea about the character and thoughts of each of you.
It is a shame that such things are always transient. They work for a while and then "poof" are no more. Perhaps it is worse these days in that the pace of change for its own sake is greater. As distinct from change for the sake of improvement.
Whatever the reason, goodbye and good luck to all of those with whom my path has crossed for the time being.

Andrew - Always made a point of reading your answers. You always had an interesting perspective that gave me pause for thought.
It’s a shame that YA couldn’t survive the incompetent management of the product and the changes in the norms of social discourse. There is definitely a role for a YA-like forum, but clearly the managers of the forum were not willing to do the things required for it to succeed.
I wish well to all those you named and many others who made the effort to help others with their knowledge of physics and astronomy
Of course, our parallel selves will continue to answer YA questions in the many parallel universes where YA will still exist..... 😀

Sooooo kind of you , Andrew : it was a privilege getting in touch with you all and appreciate your free availability and competence.
Let's hope to have been useful to some students, even though to a small extent.
The only happy will be my wife (always accusing me to "steal" time of her pertinence)
