Would one shotgun blast from 10 feet away damage my hearing permanently ?

I was At the range with my girlfriend and her dad, and she was shooting my 12 gauge, I told her to hold her fire so I could take off my earring protection so I could fix them, they were a bit too tight, of course she didn’t listen and fired right as I took them off, it was only one shot and I was about 10 feet away, should I be fine

Of course. When I hunt neither myself nor anyone I hunt with wears ear protection and we fire 12 ga.s with our heads right next to them.

One time should not cause you permanent damage but repeatedly listening to loud noises like that can cause you permanent damage

Would it?  Possibly.  Could it?  Possibly.  So you want ME to determine if you've lost any part of your hearing?  Amazing.

I'd think after one shot, 10 feet away, you should be fine.  I SAID, YOU SHOULD BE FINE!
