Because people are too lazy to cook for themselves. I have a friend who if I say I’m having steak for dinner says “ it’s alright for some, I wish I could afford that”, while their takeaway costs far more.

The trouble with KFC is its variable , that is to say the grease level is variable from store to store. Sometimes it’s quite good, other times it’s awful.

KFC is still the best fast food chicken. The recipe has held up after all these years.

I wouldn't say it's that popular. I don't know why people like it, its greasy and rank. 🤢

Because it's FRIED.  I know the stereotype about "all Americans eat are fried foods", but that isn't true.  A lot of people in the keep a pot of oil on the "cooker" all the time, and they were, after all, the people who inventer fried candy bars.
