I'm a Christian in the Protestant tradition, so we place the Bible as God's word and authority, going by what it says about Christian behaviour and avoiding crime. We believe that God's Holy Spirit deals with our conscience, heart and mind, changing us to become Christ-like. Because we love Jesus and grasp what He suffered to deal with our sin, be abhor sin. We have repented of all our sin and seek to live holy lives that honour God. The more we read the Bible and learn what it says to Christians, the clearer we are in how to live. For instance:
"Put to death [symbolically] whatever belongs to your earthly nature; sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourself of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other since you have taken off your old self with its practices, and have put on the new self which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator."
You can doubt the claim of any person claiming to be a Christian who has not obeyed the Holy Scriptures and been transformed by grace. A Christian is governed by the Holy Spirit and you will notice a sense of holiness, honesty, and love in them.
