What special permit do you need to hunt a treasure hoard in the national forest?

Update:

Oh, I'll never "Find" anything. But just in-case some ranger wants to see a permit, I don't get a ticket.

Why would you need anything except permission to be there if permission is required?

Hunting does not always mean hunting for a tangible material item....it can be hunting for peace of mind or anything that contributes to mental stability. You seem to have concluded that you`ll never find anything so there`s no problem searching. Just don`t dig, probe, take souvenirs, dispose of trash, or do anything to disturb the natural terrain and you should be alright. Most people are searching/hunting for something which is normal...it`s what`s done with it when they find it that counts.
