    87.50 because he's only working 7 hours.

    35 hours is 5 lots of 7 hours (7x5=35).

    5 x $87.50 = your answer.

He will get his pay docked for the 40 - 35 = 5 hours he did not work.  So that has to be figured in too.  Then they might have fired him for not showing up to work those five hours and so he never got to work 35 hours.

Multiply 7 by 87.5 then take that number and divide by 4. The number you get should be subtracted from the first number to show the take home pay after taxes.

Before or after taxes?  Does he have any other pre tax deductions you are not telling me about?  Does Steve like/need his job...I ask that because I have to determine if it is actually worth it for him to leave the house for $12.50 per hour.

Steve should find a 3rd grader to help him with this simple math problem.
