Why are we creating laws on feelings rather than actions seems laws on feelings is not sustainable?

    There aren't any laws about how you are supposed to feel or think. That's the first amendment. Hate crimes are a special circumstance addition to an existing crime. If you beat someone up because they looked at you wrong, it's assault and battery. If you beat someone up because they are gay, it's a hate crime addition to the assault and battery.
