is moving to Vancouver from Toronto ?

I am Pakistani descent, family of 4(2 kids age 12), living in Mississauga. I am in construction business and build custom homes. I love living in GTA as people are very friendly and i have lots of friends both from my community, outside as well Canadians.  The only reason I am planning a move is because due to arthritis  , I cannot tolerate cold anymore.

If housing is not an issue(as i will sell my current house and buy similar house in vancouver area, since market of both gat and vancouver area is at par) , is it good idea to move to vancouver. I have following queries

1. which area of vancouver is good to live where i can find Pakistani community., halal options and some mosque.

2. does it always rain in vancouver as they say, is it really unbearable. Can you do outdoor activities. My family is very much in to outdoor activities like trails , lake swimming etc

3. What is the cultural difference between people of both region. Are they as embracing and friendly to other immigrants especially muslims from Pakistan. I have had great experience. I just love how good people are in GTA.

4. How is the construction business in Vancouver, considering I buy old homes , renovate them or tear them down and build new ones. So i fall in to small to medium size builder.  Is there a good potential in metro Vancouver.

The only negative i think of vancouver is the proximity to east coast Europe and Middle east but it might not be an issue.

thank you

Vancouver is much damper than Toronto.  While it is generally warmer (although much cooler summers) the dampness can really get into your bones.  For warmth, and dry, you may want to head into the BC Interiour, like the Okanagan, or somewhere like that.  I don't know is Kelowna has a mosque, but it is a pretty big place, and certainly might.

Vancouver is great for outdoor activities; in fact, the city is known or it.  There are a great many East Indians in Surrey; loads are Sikhs, but there are Muslims there as well.  Richmond is more of the Chinese area, but people generally live wherever they can afford in Vancouver.

I cannot tell you much about the construction industry except to say Vancouver is a much younger city than Toronto, however, land is frozen by the ALR, so rebuilding does take place.

If you have arthritis, I'd suggest the last place you should be moving to is damp Vancouver.  You may react to the cold, but at least Winters in the To area are generally less humid and it's the cold and humidity that got to me re my arthritis.  Bad when cold and damp, much better when the weather is dry, warm and not humid.  So I'd not be in a hurry to move out there in the hope my arthritis wasn't so difficult to live with.

You need dry, and warm.   Arizona?

I can't answer all your questions, but I have been in Vancouver several times, and the weather was always lovely. It certainly doesn't get as much rain as Seattle. It's a very international city, and I'm sure you can find a community there. I would think a good approach would be to look up where the mosques are, and then read up a little about those areas. Vancouver and the surrounding areas are experiencing a lot of growth, and I'm sure the opportunities for flipping houses are very good there. The weather is certainly better for construction work!
