It's not normal if he/she invited themselves, but if you asked them to, then yes, it's normal. A good therapist doesn't want to upset their patient unnecessarily.

He can't believe what he is seeing when you are in his office, so, he wants to find out first hand what's going on..So yes, this is normal....
