Sudden lower back pain?

Hi folks,

Three days ago. I was working outdoors. Had a small stone in my shoes. I was bending reaching for my shoe. Then something struck me in my lower pack. An hour later I couldn’t even lift my trouser when answering nature in the toilet. I saw my private doctor. Prescribed for me some powerful painkillers. When I walk for ten minutes I become good and with no pain. But when I’m doing nothing staying at home the problem comes back and becomes chronic.

I’m just worried. Is this related to muscles strain or did I damaged my lower herniated discs? Negative and positive advices are welcomed. Thank you

I sure couldn't give a better diagnosis than your private doctor.  I would think he would have x-rayed your back to see if there was a disk problem.  It sounds more like a muscle strain than a damaged or herniated disk.  Your back is very important.  It would be worth the money to see a specialist, take and MRI, and be certain that there is not a serious injury before doing various activities.  The specialist can also give advice about exercises to strengthen the back.  I have found Yoga exercises to be a back saver.  This is only if you haven't injured your back.  There are alot of muscles pulling on your spine.  Flexible muscles is the key to a flexible spine.  "You are as old as your spine is flexible" is a yoga adage.  Richard Hitleman's 28-day Yoga Exercise Plan is a great way to begin Yoga.

Acute low back pain is most often caused by a sudden injury to the muscles and ligaments supporting the back. The pain may be caused by muscle spasms or a strain or tear in the muscles and ligaments. Causes of sudden low back pain include: Compression fractures to the spine from osteoporosis.

It may be as a result of working long hours at a computer or waking up unexpectedly in the morning. Such discomfort can also be caused by a urinary tract infection in the lower urinary tract. (Please get your urine tested first thing in the morning.) Get a good experienced physiotherapist for the first two.

Sudden back pain may occur due to the long term sitting posture, lack of exercise and nutrient intake. This can be prevented by going for regular exercises, walking and frequently changing the postures. Also nutrient intake helps a lot in its prevention.
