What to do in Amsterdam overnight?

Hello,

My wife and I have a 12 hour layover from 10pm-8am in Amsterdam,

we are looking to leave the airport and do some sightseeing, perhaps have some drinks but we are unsure what will be open.

is there bars in the red light district?

open places to eat? sight seeing?

are there areas to avoid?

I'd say sightseeing is out of the question, never mind that it will be dark out, since that website says that there is a curfew in effect from 21:00 (9 pm) to 4:30 am. No one, with a very few exceptions, is allowed on the streets at all. Bars, restaurants, clubs, and sex establishments are closed. That's all until March 15 at the earliest.
