Lowering defense spending to 20 million. Dollars per year, in order to break the military-civilian circle of instability?
That is what I would lower the defense spending to.
The General of the Army gets $100,000 per year
The Chief of Naval Operations and the Admirals each get $100,000 per year.
The Commandant of the Marines gets $100,000 per year.
The Chief of Staff of the Air Force gets $100,000 per year.
The Commandant of the Coast Guard gets $100,000 per year.
The rest of the money goes entirely toward maintenance of military buildings and equipment which would be shelved in the Armories.
Every military personnel OTHER than those top officers who are necessary in order to keep office, And therefore maintaining the availability of their services..
Would be relieved of their duties until necessary.
No more unnecessary recruitment or veterans services to act as a reason for recruitment, which inadvertently creates war itself, which causes the civilian problems in our society...
And no more procurement of military technology and weapons or tactics until and unless necessary.

hmmmm, since you laid off everyone except the service chiefs. I was just wondering how the people who replace them are gfona get trained?
how are the Sgts the company commander gonna get trained, when ya do need them
since ea ch takes years to train, you cannot say time out while we train our military to have our war

This is pretty naive. 20 million wouldn't be enough to cover the operating costs of a single U.S. military base in a dormant state as you suggest, much less the entire military. The military would cease to exist, would fall far behind in capabilities and the country would never be able to mobilize in time to defend itself effectively. Wars and veterans don't create civilian problems, civilians create civilian problems. There is definitely wasteful spending in defense that can be curtailed, but what you suggest is childish nonsense.
