Why are soccer/football crowds violent ?

Especially with hooliganism and riots between different clubs. Just watching football hooligan fights in the UK on YouTube and just crazy to think before covid people would fight each other over football?? What are they fighting over exactly? In my opinion soccer is painfully boring to watch but i respect it’s the world game but is there’s no reason to fight each other ffs. That’s one of the reasons I never go to football games is due to stupid crowd behaviour.

Outdated thinking. If you count number of incidents of fan violence per game in the UK, actually MLB and the NFL has a bigger problem. Considering pre-covid there were around 2500 games of football played in the UK each week where the players are at least paid in some form (semi pro and pro) it's a staggeringly low number. The UK leads the world in tackling hooliganism and has made the sport a far friendlier place to go. Come back when you are not looking at 80's stereotypes

Old video; it does not happen in UK now; segregation/police control stopped it.  Most were not true supporters; they just mixed with the crowds to create trouble. There is still some of it in other European countries, especially Italy.
