Has anyone seen a Rod? What is your own idea of what they could be?

It was thought that it was just an effect caused by the camera and passing insects until rods were filmed alongside birds and insects in the same film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMTh9kuIlhE

Update:

Petter, I'm asking, "What are your ideas," not for a link. As I said, they were once thought to be just an effect of the camera but not now since new evidence has turned up such as flying in formation.

Update 2:

Tom, that answer has been ruled out as they have been witnessed flying in intelligent formation and also next to flying insects that show up perfectly naturally 0n the same pic. There is not one rod in anyone's personal photo album yet there are insects in abundance and all around the subject of the photo. How many pics have been taken of Sidney opera house and big ben? Yet there is not one with a rod or if you like, "insect"

They are the transit for disease and bacteria.  The are a worm in its ionized form.  The phantoms associated with the rod are generally a mimic of the lifeform that it or its associated bacteria forms prey on.

They're still insects. Sasquatch fleas to be exact.

I think they are streaks in a photo  made by INSECTS flying by during a longer exposure time.  You can even see the wave like wing flaps on them.

I've never seen one myself, but I've seen photos and vids.  They're bugs shot out of focus.  It's been debunked over and over again, even while filming other insects.

Can be weather manipulation, HAARP, a transdimensional hop or something else.

I don't think anyone has seen one, except in photos. Being an amateur photographer I'd heard of rods, but didn't realize there was a cryptid/UFO controversy.

Rods were explained years ago in photography circles. An explanation in a non-paranormal source would raise doubts, so, here's what an active Cryptozoology site has to say about it.

It is old news but here's an update from the person that made the YouTube videoickie2289

    Update August 5, 2018:

"When I first put this video online I was convinced this was some kind of strange phenomenon and I had fun making the video. Now, with much more camera experience, I believe these are nothing more than insects. The camera can and does capture images faster than the eye can see and this brings out the beautiful effect you see here in this video. So while they are certainly bugs, they are quite beautiful when captured using a solar obliteration technique as what I used for this video. Enjoy! "
