What makes non-canon ships unique?

For example, I'm currently making a series featuring Anakin Skywalker and Hera Syndulla for a fanfiction series inspired by a RP i did not too long ago, and the dynamic between the two parallel each other well as A, they're pilots, and B, had fought in major wars for the republic. I'm curious to know how do you all feel about non-canon ships in general. Sound off!!

Nothing unique about it and I'm not into all the "shipping" stuff. I'm an adult and it's a bit too immature for me besides some of those shippers can become rather toxic. They treat fake relationships like it's their own. I have more important things in my life to worry about than canon and non-canon ships (they are all non canon since they aren't real). I think these kids should get better hobbies. So I think the whole thing of shipping is totally dumb and childish.

I don't know who those people are, but if you think that appropriating characters and settings devised by other authors and inserting them into stories with your name on them qualifies as being "unique", it doesn't. It's as far from "unique" as it's possible to get. I could write a fan-fiction about Mighty Mouse and Rainbow Brite and set it in Narnia, and though I guarantee I'd be the first person to ever do that, it wouldn't be "unique" by any measure.
