Do you agree that Republicans messed up Texas?

The state is completely run by Republicans.

Sen. Ted Cruz and AG Ken Paxton both fled the state while the state was in crisis.People are being saddled with electric bills in the thousands of dollars because of their deregulated energy market, and the system failed so badly that at least 80 people have died and half the people in the state are without clean water.Texas did not want the federal government involved in their energy, so they created their own grid that is not subject to many federal regulations, but are refusing to take personal responsibility. They are blaming alternative energy, which they don't do much of down there and counts for less than 7% of their power. They are also blaming AOC's Green New Deal, which hasn't even been voted on by Congress, so does not exist!Meanwhile, the Texas Republicans are busy focusing on legislation that would require all publicly funded evens to play the national anthem, as if that's what they think is important right now!And now this, from the conservative Wall Street Journal:https://www.wsj.com/articles/texas-electric-bills-... Those deregulated Texas residential consumers paid $28 billion more for their power since 2004 than they would have paid at the rates charged to the customers of the state’s traditional utilities, according to the Journal’s analysis of data from the federal Energy Information Administration.

Absolutely.   they went though this in 2011, everyone agreed that something should be done to stop it happening again . . . in ten years they did absolutely nothing.

If Home Depot started selling generators at a 9000% mark-up, then they would be prosecuted for price gouging.    But Republicans seem to think this is just fine for the power companies to do.    Politicians are talking about how the state should pay for these ridiculous bills....WTF!!!   How about the power companies that did nothing to prevent this have to eat this "cost".      (It is not like the generating costs went up,  it is just that the supply from the coal and natural gas power stations that supply most of Texas' power dropped massively.)

Basically everything you wrote is true, based on my readings of various news sources. Texas must be a Republican paradise.

also blaming AOC's Green New Deal

See, when you lie like that, no one is going to pay attention to your rant.

alternative energy, which they don't do much of down there and counts for less than 7% of their power

See, when you don;t know the facts, aren't even close to them. No one is going to pay attention to your rant.

Green policies under Obama forced the shut down of many of there power plants. Multiple remaining plants use NG as their fuel source. Direct pipeline infrastructure was nixed by the Obama administration, as well as NG infrastructure across this nation. That meant they were stuck having to tank the crap in, which they were unable to do, due to road conditions. So some of it is due to green or clean energy pushes across the nations, over the last two decades.  Then you have the electrical heating  that they rely so heavily on. Knowing the storm and the temps coming in meant the demand would be maxed out. Prior to the storm the people were informed to expect rolling brown and black outs. Texas knew that their green sources would not be available, that taking 25% of capacity out of the supply, would mean there would be a shortage.

People were not prepared, as they thought they were, for the storms.

No. This is a storm in a tea cup compared to what goes on in California every day.
