Christians, since I'm not comfortable communicating with God through prayer yet, what if I did it through writing on paper?
If I ask God a question and I genuinely want to know the answer, He will answer, correct?

It's better to pray. He hears our prayers. He might not read what we write. But still, it would be better than nothing.

Some Christians do find it useful to write their thoughts, both when they speak to God and when He speaks to them.

GOD answers 'prayer' through teams of 'dramatists,' (His are called 'angels'). We are supposed to ask Him 'questions' using our own teams of human 'dramatists,' (also called 'angels' when viewed in this context).
So begin to view your life and its 'characters' this way. Shape and inspire them to pose your 'questions,' then look for GOD's 'answers' through those same people or anyone else who arrives. It is an inspired art form and most of the people involved will not even know they are participating, but that is what keeps it 'private' between you and GOD.
Ideally, Christians 'help' each other by consciously recognizing what is happening and agreeing together on both the questions and in recognizing GOD's responses, ('two or more gathered in His Name'), but we may ask GOD any question we wish by ourselves as long as it is covered in the subject matter of the 'Our Father...' (as Jesus describes):
1) Any praise and acknowledgment of GOD;
2) Any recognition of His holiness and other attributes;
3) Reminders of His promises about heaven and earth becoming 'one' and His expressed will emerging here around us and inside our 'dramas';
4) Requests and thanks for continued daily provision;
5) Requests to forgive sins both known and unknown in exchange for forgiving others, including all debts owed;
6) Requests for safety from evil and its purposes, (including keeping evil out of our 'dramas');
Anything other than this are 'advanced' prayers and require using the 'staged dramas' I mentioned above. You may feel silly doing this at first, but you will begin to see that it is quite real, especially when the special genius called 'faith' arrives to give you better questions, stronger responses and real measurable results.
If you are successful a palpable 'gratitude' results.
"Rejoice always;
pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

God tells us in Matthew 6:8, “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
This tells me that one of the main purposes of prayer is the benefit for ourselves. And what we need is typically not answers to every question we have.
And when we think we are genuine, we usually aren’t.
“The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, what can know it?” Jer 17:9
Prayer isn’t hard or intimidating. It doesn’t require rituals and knees and clasped hands all the time. I send little prayers up all day long. Quietly think of something and know God hears it. That’s all it is.

I guarantee you will get the same results.
You could write your prayer on the finest paper, roll it up, dip it in the finest virgin olive oil, and insert it into your nether orifice, and you will have the same results as well.

I highly suggest writing your prayers down.
You might actually realize how stupid they sound when you read them.

You can write to Him if you like but it just seems to be like snail mail.
The important thing here is whether you hear Him.
Do you have ears to hear?
