Our Moon is a characteristic satellite, not a planet. The planets are
enormous items spinning around the Sun, while satellites
are more modest articles spinning around the planets....

If they were planets, they would be called planets.
Moons orbit planets.

This question was asked on here a few days ago. No they aren't, but there was a time when they were referred to as such.

Second time I have seen this question and the answer is still NO. Moons Orbit a Planet and are much smaller.

def: A planet is a celestial body that (a) is in orbit around the Sun, (b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape, and (c) has cleared the neighborhood around its orbit.
So a moon, even if the size of another planet, does not meet the criteria. that's why Pluto was demoted...

No.
Moons and moonlets orbit planets. Moon's?Can be?as big and?as?massive as dwarf planets or planets, but they orbit planets. Planets and dwarf planets usually orbit stars unless they are rogue planets.
