How do soldiers take out enemy snipers ?
Especially for US troops in Afghanistan being ambushed by a sniper attack and you don’t know where the shot are coming from? Secondly what do you do if there’s a second or third sniper and they are spread out? Once you find sufficient cover what is your next move if the sniper is out of range for your rifle and you haven’t got a sniper in your squad?

With OVERKILL! Get behind a rock or something. Then ask the LT to get the FO to get some rounds on target. Maybe an A-10 too.

The whole idea is YOU are a better sniper than the other guy. If he can shoot at you then you can shoot back. The other idea is they do not see you in the first place. You do not just go walking into your spot and start setting up, you have to get there without being seen.

How? They locate the sniper and kill him or her.....simple. Once a person is under attack - it does not take long for you to find out where the bullets are coming from and solve the problem.

The first sniper located by another sniper on the opposing side dies.
Note: If the sniper is within range to kill your forces, he is within range to be killed by your forces.

With a .338 Lapua, a .50 BMG Barrett or pretty much ANY of the belted magnum rifle cartridges in the hands of a WELL qualified sniper! ALL work nicely for this type of situation and a very VERY few WELL qualified elite snipers can make this shot from WELL over a mile away totally undetected!!

Often, they know generally where the sniper is so they call up some bigger guns (like a tank), mortar or such to plaster the area where they think the sniper is.
