If I have to ever perform CPR on a stranger that stopped breathing how do I protect us both from Covid?

Like if I have to do mouth to mouth cause they stopped breathing. Touching my mouth to a stranger’s is high risk for the coronavirus.

    Hi Stephanie,

If need be [ mouth-to-mouth ] find or locate 'a barrier' Between yourself & victim.

Or you could perform Compressions Only/ "Hands Only" CPR.

     Toodles.

they are saying hand only works....wear your mask.  i carry a CPR mask with me at all times, you would only be blowing in, person would not be breathing out with your face over their mouth. blow in pull your mask up, and sit up if you are going to be giving breathes.

hands only is for short time 3-5 minutes max...you do need to start breathing for them eventually.

Mouth to mouth is not always necessary:

Now, for adults who suddenly collapse, there's powerful evidence that chest compression alone is far better than doing nothing. In fact, the new evidence suggests that by interrupting lifesaving chest compressions, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation may do more harm than good.

Here in the UK, there have been adverts to songs showing how many chest compressions per minute are ideal.  There is a list of suitable songs to have in your head on this link
