If a 410 can also shoot 45's, can a 28 gauge shoot 50 caliber?

Update:

Uh, thanks ? But, my gun says 410/45 auto. Of course not a long colt. So, I am asking if a 28 gauge can shoot a similar 50 caliber. 28 gauge is 50 caliber.

SOME 410 weapons can shoot 45 Colts.   However a shotgun usually has a choke in it and even if the 45 Colt will fire when the bullet hits the choke bad things will happen.   Like the barrel blowing up.     Do not think about using a 50 cal in a shotgun.

You can try it. Have your will filed in advance.

So, some minds always flow in the same channel as my elementary teacher used to say when two pupils in the class came up with the same dumb question. OK, you said 28 gauge but the video uses a 12 gauge. I cannot show you a video with a 28 gauge but a little imagination maybe will settle your curiosity.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjkHK3JWHdM

If your gun says 410/45 auto I believe something is wrong.  I have a Remington

that will shoot 410/45 LC.  As far as the other question the answer is No.

Remember, just because you can doesn't mean you should.

    which 50 caliber?

i absolutely would NOT try it.

but if you are talking about a 50BMG no.

if you are talking about a 500 mag or something that, i wouldnt stand behind it. hell, try it with a string. dont get attached to the gun.

case diameter for 500 mag and 28 gauge is really close.

Not sure how you are going to get a 45 Auto out of the chamber or how it is going to headspace.  The answer to both should be NO, but i guess you are the intelligent one with good health insurance.

You have fallen victim to misinformation. Certain revolvers were made in such a manner that they can take 410 shotgun shells and 45 caliber ammunition. this interchange of ammo is only safe in these revolvers. It is not safe in any shotgun chambered in 410. If the gun is designed to shoot a 28 gauge or a 50 caliber projectile then yes to your question. Other than that no. I strongly urge you to get professional firearms training, enroll in a NRA sanctioned safety class, and pay for range time with an instructor.

Probably not...the cases may be the same size, but the pressures are way different.

    Of course, but only once.

NO you can NOT stick a .45 Colt in just ANY .410 either.

I would ask you a question also :

Have you grown rather attached to your face ?

If so, you better get smart and read the side of the barrel only load what that label says.

ADDED : if your gun says .410/45ACP(Automatic Colt Pistol) let 'em fly.

HOWEVER refer to my answer regarding the 28 ga. and .50 cal. NOPE I would NOT UNLESS the barrel is so marked. You can refer further to a chart showing chamber pressure for a .28 gauge vs. a .50 of which there are several .50 caliber cartridges also, so the marking on the barrel WILL be specific if such a thing even exists. I never heard of a 28gauge/ .50cal firearm in my long life, does not mean someone somewhere did not make one and sell a couple.
