What's happened to Liverpool?
Oh, boy. First Burnley, now they suffer a 2nd consecutive home defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion. And it seemed to me they were outplayed. What is wrong with the defending Premier League champs...?? 🤔🤔
That's a very respectable take, Hombre.

poor recrtuiment or lack of, in the summer after winning the league last season and and a cr4p jan transfer window has meant we've burned out and not able to perform as consistentantly or as ruthlessly as we did last season.
Bobby looks seriously jaded, though he did score in previous game but I honestly think this is realistic and we are where we should be given everything thats happened with the injuries and what have you.
Trent came back from injury himself and needed two to three games to regain match sharpness/fitness, Jota has not been available as a player we could use to replace Salah or Bobby due to injury and we've played most of the season without any real proper center backs!
still 4th is not bad, we're not a million miles away from City or United but the gap has started increasing each week.
Look whats happened to us since those awful draws , West Brom then Man United and its been downhill since.
The two wins against Villa and West Ham have saved us from being in serious trouble, now top 4 finish could be a challenge.
we better finish the season as strong as we possibly can, and sad thing is I think we are doing that - its just not going to be as easy as it was last season.
teams burnt out mate. spent. running on reserves.
If we surrender the title to City this season so be it, we did the main thing which was to WIN the damn thing after a 30 year agonising wait lol
Besides lets not get fecking greedy, we won the 2019 CL and the EPL in 2020. 2021 lets rebuild again.
Next year we'll be back properly. You can bet your bottom dollar Klopp will bring in serious big reinforcements. Gomez, Robertson, Trent, Williams etc will just get better with each passing season trophies or no trophies. They've not peaked yet remember. Title will return to Anfield next season. Mark my words.

Van Dijk being out is a very big loss for them and has effects right the way through the team. Without the security of him at the back, the midfield doesn’t feel as confident to push up and create more and more attacks. With them withdrawn, the goal scoring dries up.
I don’t think they recruited enough in the summer. I think the rumour was that they were contented with the squad they had, but you should always strengthen. Subsequent injuries have stretched their squad a lot whereas recruiting in the close season would have helped them.
I also think that after a while of being on top, teams naturally work out how to play against a dominant side. The same thing happened with Pep’s Barcelona and will happen to Bayern Munich as well.

I couldn't help but laugh when i saw the result on teletext. They seem to play worst against "$hit" teams and can murder the rest of them. Is the wheels coming off ?

quote "And it seemed to me they were outplayed." yep i agree and i'm a pool fan..they seemed to be able to play their way out of defensive positions as good as anyone i have seen, and they were brave in possession, unlike the pundits i thought Trossard was their best player tonight, a player i feel has been underrated...don't get me wrong we wern't at our best and this makeshift defence isn't helping matters, but don't be fooled, Brighton are better than their league pos would have you believe, they are prob only 2nd right now behind man city in knowing how to keep possesion maintaining an attacking philosophy, but we've had tough peformances against us in most games, players just try that tiny big harder, that tiny bit more focused, maybe that tiny bit more scared, (don't kid yourself on that either a bit of fear is not a bad thing for a team), it triggers fight or flight response which can make us physically perform beyond out normal limits, even if only subconsciencely..and this to a minor degree is happening in many games, certainly it wasn;t a case of PTB, it was just a case of being on alert and making sure passing was accurate and there was no losing focus, and that's what i saw from Brighton, Potter must scratch his head sometimes, at the position they are in when you consider their overall performance in many games..As for us we'll need to respond, but the fact we won't be favs now, will help our team be more progressive and more focused in what we do and subconsciencely more relaxed...least that's my theory for now lol
