What did they do that was relevant when they were full time royals? It will largely go unnoticed if they start cutting ribbons for new openings of disabled chameleon centres again.

I don't think people would be too happy to see them now in their communities after H&M made clear how much they hate having to perform the more boring royal duties.

I think the Queen would not tolerate it, but Prince Charles might be amenable. I don't think they would be up for it, though. 

That would not happen during the present Queen's reign.

It's still possible, but everyone would not welcome them back enthusiastically.
