What do you think about working from home, especially having an office job? What are the hours?

First of all, no one knows where you live, and can't give you any advice on what jobs are actually hiring in your area. Second, no one knows what your skills are, and can't give you any advice on where to start looking for jobs. Third, no one knows what a company will want to do with its remote workers, and can't give you any advice on what your hours would be. 

Are you getting the picture? We can't answer your question. None of the answers you get will be even remotely useful because your location and skills aren't known. 

my company is working almost all remote during the pandemic. we don't expect to maybe opening up offices until the summer, and they've been closed since last march.  but we've still been hiring people here and there when the need rises.  we still work normal "office" hours.  but now we do have flexibility if we need to meet with our customers on the phone should something come up or to close sales.  

look on sites like glassdoor, indeed, even linkedin.  you can search for remote jobs for businesses that are still running and considered essential.  if you're looking for a full time job, it'll be regular daytime hours.  8-5, etc.  so just because you're home that won't change.  if you want days off etc, you still need approval from your manager too.

Your issue will be getting ANY job that allows you to work from home........ working from home unless you are VERY organised and dedicated means you work much longer hours, you don't get a good split between work/leisure time

Your work hours are often up to you. Expect to put in a lot of hours to start building your business, getting clients, etc. What kind of work have you been doing, and can that type of work be done remotely? Work-at-home "jobs" are mostly scams - still. You likely will become self-employed & seeking clients or customers for what you do. Depending on your qualifications, you might find contract work, e.g. computer programming, that can be done remotely, or you might find some retainer work (e.g. accountant, copywriter). You fail to state any experience or qualifications, so it's hard to advise. 

The hours are dictated by your manager, your location, and where your co-workers are.  I've worked from home for the past 5+ years.  I work a normal work day and on occasion start early or late just like if I were in the office.  

For me, when I started working from home it was difficult b/c I always felt guilty if I took a small break.  I wanted to make sure that I wasn't perceived as (or actually) slacking off.  Making myself take breaks helps to keep me sane though.  You'll be in front of a computer pretty much all day and on calls (possibly video) for a good amount of the day as well depending on what you do and what meetings you need.  

I've been working from home for eight years for my current (global) telecom infrastructure supplier employer. I've been working in my industry for 30 years. My employer(s) trust me and allow me to work from home because they and my customer contacts know I will deliver. The nearest office for my current employer is over 2 hours away (mostly freeway driving) and I could do what I do anywhere. The last time I was in an office was nearly 2 years ago - in a different state - for meetings. The last time I was in the office that is 2 hours away was 4 years ago to meet a coworker for lunch.

When I worked at my previous employer's office space, it was about a 20 minute drive. I left home at 6am and left the office at 4pm.

Working from home now, I am on the phone with co-workers or customer contacts starting at 6am and because the people I work with can be anywhere in the US, I usually finish up a 6pm. Sometimes I work longer hours when working with folks in Europe or Asia. I've been making low 6-figures for the past 15 years.

What skills or knowledge do you have that will allow you to work, unsupervised, from home? How will your productivity be measured? What industry can use your skills? In the industry you want to work, is working from home normal?

I have been working remotely for ten months now, although this is a job I had before the pandemic. For me personally, my work hours can vary a lot, because I work for a global company and need to interface with people around the world, and connecting with China or Australia can mean calls outside “normal” business hours. If you worked in a customer service type of position, your hours would be much more set and likely closer to standard business hours.
