Why is council tax so expensive in the UK?

Increasing every year as well but no sign of any improvement with the roads or bin collections, schools are still underfunded. Where’s the money go to? Tory pockets?

Local councils provide bin collections, street lighting etc.  They do not fund schools and only some of the roads.  Increases are due to higher costs.  You might be interested to know that Labour run council increases are higher than those of Conservative councils.

The UK is a socialist country. You have the services from the government which cannot find here in the US. It is not so expensive if you compare the rates to Canada, Germany and France. It is in fact lower than Norway, Sweden and Finland. And the government has chosen the way not to print the money. That is a great thing.

The Government has put the squeeze on financial support; so they have no other options, as they have already implemented a lot of cost cutting measures.
