What does this gesture mean?

I probably got somewhat of a clue what it means but I'd like a professional's view.

When a young, shy boy is laying in bed, asleep, and a young and beautiful woman is looking right at him and she seems to be looking at him with curiosity. She reaches out to place her hand on his chest where his heart is located and she seems to be or looks as though she likes him, is developing maternal, loving and protective feelings towards him like she can tell he's in love and she feels the need to help him as if she's doing that out of love for him. When she's got her hand on his chest, he smiles and blushes yet he feels comfortable and emotionally safe and loved while she may be falling in love with him to help him. What does that gesture mean? My best guess is ether she likes him or is falling in love with him. I've seen it in some cartoons that were aimed towards teens and adults. But I would like a professional's view on this.
