Are we under as great a threat today as we were during the Cuban Missile Crisis for a nuclear exchange between the United States and another military superpower such as Russia or China?

Do you think the Chinese virus we're currently experiencing is an accident?

WRONG FORUM. A question about the present doesn't belong in the history forum. try again in Military, Politics or Current Events instead.

    No. Don't be stupid.

Oh, yes. Yes, we are. Should Cuba receive another shipment of missiles lots of things could go wrong, what with the heat, and the damp, and all that.

No.  We came within hours of beginning WWIII.  If the Soviet Union had not backed down and turned its missile loaded ship around at the last minute the US was prepared to launch a first strike.  I know this because I was active duty Navy at the time and we deployed a carrier group ready to strike if ordered.

No, if we start teaching children to do 'duck and cover' drills in elementary schools, like we did when I was in first grade in 1962, then you'll know we are.

Well so long as the threat is only "as" great, but no greater than the threat posed during the Cuban missile crisis, you have little to worry about.
