Yes. But I would prefer Maui. Anyway they're both better than south Florida.

Moved from Union City, California to Honolulu, Hawaii in 2018. Transferred my job, abandoned most my stuff and never looked back. Lack of technology resources is a drawback, but not a deal breaker. Things are more pricey here due to the cost of importing items, but discounts can be found. (See Costco.) I love the environment here. (Spent most my life in Boston, MA.)

@NavyCrab: This place is it. 75 - 80 degree weather on average even in winter. You can't  beat that. :-)

@Mmm J: "high taxes"... You've never lived in California. (Over 10% sales tax.) Not to mention the rent is out of control. Just checked on Rent.com for my old 600 sq. ft. 1-bedroom apartment... $2600 / month.

Yes (I said that about 2 years ago).

So, I sold my properties & other assets, quit my job, and moved to Honolulu. Nowadays, I am just a bum that swims and walks around the city (urban hiking) almost everyday.

"I Like Stories" is correct but did not answer your question. I live in a suburb of Honolulu for many years. I was born there - and we moved to the mainland when I was 14.

It was a fine place to live, grow up and be a kid.

If you're asking about living in downtown Honolulu, I don't think I would like that much. It is similar to most cities of the same size. Lots of traffic, one-way streets, etc. Fairly crowded.

Today, with Hawaii's top industry, tourism, decimated by the pandemic, high taxes, and keeping in mind EVERYTHING needs to be imported, it is even more expensive to live there than it used to be - and it was expensive before now. Now, it is a fine place to live - if you already have lots of money...

Honolulu is a city, you don't live "on it", you live "in it".
