How can I get my ex-stepdaughter to repay a loan? She seems like she is avoiding me.?
She is an adult and gainfully employed. Trying to get her to respond via text or phone seems fruitless. She had promised to repay the debt monthly, but her payments are spotty and she promises to pay and call me back but never does. I find her very undependable and self-centered with this and other aspects of her life. Should I be unrelenting in my quest for repayment, or should I just let it go and chalk it up to a bad decision on my part? What are my other options?

If she's disappeared, so has the money. If she doesn't want to pay it back, there's no legal method of making her do so. You can't prove that you lent her money. She can claim that she understood it to be a gift.

If she owes you money and doesnt have it, I guarantee she's avoiding you. I'd a most guarantee she won't bring it up. Talk to her, ask when she'll be able to repay it. Offer to take payments until you're repaid in full.
