Another question for Global Warming Regulars?

We are in the midst of what looks like it could be a second wave. I'm back to the Covid ICU ward on Monday since we are expecting admissions to increase.

What irrates me is idiots who proclaim the numbers are lies, the virus is harmless, and it's all fake BS propaganda to infringe on your freedoms. Easy to do from the safety of your armchair.

Until you've had to roll patients onto their stomachs, and manually force air into their lungs by physically compressing their chest from the back, and doing that until you can no longer lift your arms due to exhaustion otherwise that person will die, your opinions on the severity of Covid-19 mean jack **** to me.

Additional - thanks Jimz ... the problem with any type of viral epidemic is that personal experience will range from 'don't know anyone who got it' to 'got it but it was nothing to worry about' to 'they died' and everything in between. This is a well understood problem in public health circles where experiences are so varied it can lead to complacency. My experience is simple - Covid-19 is like nothing I've seen before, and I've worked in Vietnam and saw tropical disease outbreaks in rural communities.

I've seen people in their 40s admitted in the morning chatting away to staff, and by afternoon had deteriorated to the point where they were placed in a coma and stuck on a ventilator. I've seen people in their 20s and 30s who were discharged days later and will now spend six months feeling pretty awful as they slowly recover. The reality is many of the patients we see who aren't 'serious' cases are likely to have permanent damage to their lungs and livers.

This is not a virus people should shrug their shoulders about. It's not a 'meh' situation. This is a virus people do not want to contract because the outcome could be nothing, damage to your organs, suffering for months in recovery at home, or death.

If I offered people a pill that might have no effect or might kill you, I doubt many people would voluntarily take that Russian roulette pill!

I'm 79 years old and know several hundred people and not one of those I know has died of covid as of today! Tell me why I should worried enough to start wearing a mask?

On a personal level, the natural habitat has changed drastically this year from years past. Insect populations are down, birds are more cautious than ever around places normally filled with the sounds of them chirping. The Bald Eagle and Osprey have moved from nests they have been at for years coming back from the warm weather climes of winter and water levels are fluctuating more often too. It is my opinion the corona-virus has something to do with it as it is the same type of difference                  we see in our own human behavior.

If you're in the USA, your country is very large. It's like a collection of countries, spread across a large distance North to South. You have very different climates in each state, so the way covid is spreading is different across these states due to the different temperatures and climactic conditions. Temperate States will show a peak in infections trailing off. More humid States will have a peak of infections towards the end of the year. If you are going to combine the statistics for all your States, your going to get what looks like a second peak, which is being misread as a second wave.

Regional western Victoria in Australia. Very low numbers in the regions because people are obeying the guidelines while people in our capitol city of Melbourne are not doing what they should and numbers are higher.

Death rate has tanked, both nationally in UK, and worldwide.  The death rate is one third of the seasonal flu.  94% of deaths with Corona had at least one co-morbidity.  US deaths are 10k, not 200k.

I live in Long Beach, California.  I have not heard of anyone I know that got it at any time.   There is one guy at my work that said in a virtual meeting a few days ago that he met a couple that had it and recovered but he lives in Beverly Hills and people in his circle seem to travel much more and are obviously at greater risk.  the woman in the couple was having trouble with her sense of smell and he was having some difficulty but nothing too serious.   If you work in healthcare like Elizabeth, I'm sure her experiences are far worse and I have to seriously thank her and those like her for helping those that really need it.  

I'm lucky. I live in the boondocks and have to go shopping only about once a week or so. The number of cases in my county is minuscule; we may be friendly but we aren't stupid.

Everyone’s normal, no one is sick and the government is pushing the fake pandemic hoax to restrict freedoms and make everyone’s life crap.

The numbers are being reported inaccurately.
