2 questions about motorcycle licence UK?
1) Can you ride a 125cc motorbike on a motorway with a full UK drivers licence and a CBT?
2) If you have a full UK drivers licence do you need to go through the process of A1 and A2 licence or can you go for a full motorcycle licence without those steps?

1) No you need to take theory and practical MOTORCYCLE tests (yes, they are different).
2) You need to be 24 to take the Direct Access route.

Yes to both questions.
However, if you held a licence before 1997 a CBT will not be required to ride a moped.
