This may sound obvious but could you give me some examples of what a software is, although I know some examples?

Windows, Office, Adobe products (Premier pro, photoshop, after effects, reader......) Vegas pro, Chrome, Edge, Firefox..... the list goes on

first i need to describe hardware, which is the device itself and any peripherals you can connect, such as keyboard, mice, and printers.
then software refers to programs and scripts you can run on the hardware. it uses all ghe parts of the hardware to run its code, and accomplish something, taking input from the user and making the specified changes.
computers are designed to do anything you can imagine, but without software to tell it what to do, the hardware will just sit there. even your operating system is a piece of software!
