Does mobile data work on SIM free phones?

I am thinking of buying a SIM free phone from Argos but does the mobile data work automactically or do you have to configure it for your chosen network?

    When they say SIM free it just means it doesn't include a SIM with it. You still would need a SIM for it to work as a phone & use mobile data networks.

    Some people go that route if they want to use their own SIM with number/plan, etc on a new phone.

    You may be able to configure it. Talk to your provider first.
