CDC: COVID-19 has a 6% mortality rate: it would kill a million Americans per 10% infected. Why do conservatives want to open the economy?

It depends on the figures you use to determine the %, the right want to try to compare it to either total population, or, tests done, to keep the figure as low as possible, hoeever if you compare it to positive tests youre about right, compare it to hospitalisations and its around 12%. Reopening before the peak is passed is foolish to put it mildly, because it will simply spike again and close everything down again, catastrophically. To be fair, in America, Trump mishandled every stage, he ignored so he could get his Corporate handouts in place, then when hed enriched the wealthy, he was so far in debt, he couldnt support the workers, now, hes just trying to cause insurrection so he xan blame Democratic Governors, the workers are being starved of cash, forcingvthem to try to get back to work because they need the money, Trump fighting for his Presidency and doesnt care how many die as a result...

People are only important before they come out of the womb according to Republicans.

They think they need to "make" money - and probably assume the government won't help them pay the rent.

You statistical evaluation sucks. You are LEAVING OUT the EVER GROWING number of cases being discovered daily of people who are found to have had COVID-19 that never knew they did and the statistics surrounding how many more of them are out there. All this is dropping the morality rate below 0.6%!

They're dumb enough to believe that only liberals will die of it!

The mortality rate is nowhere close to 6%. If you are otherwise healthy, the mortality rate is very close to 0.00%.

CDC hasn't been right about anything yet. Protect the elderly. Let everyone else get back to work.

I get 2-3%... lowering the more people tested. Here it is currently1-2% depending on the day and time of reporting.... could there possibly be some statistical shenanigans afoot where you are?... hmmm?
