Why do players wait a few seconds to let go after a tackle in Rugby League?
I never closely watched a Rugby League match until today and I noticed that the tackler(s) would hold the guy for a for few seconds before retreating, why is that? Are they trying to take the ball or milk a penalty ?

They're trying to slow the team with the ball down from playing quick ball from dummy half, and to give the defending team a chance to get back onside and set up correctly to defend.
