Coronavirus in Seattle. Safe to Travel?

I booked a flight and hotel two months go before the virus was in the US. I am having a hard time deciding whether it is safe for me to travel to Seattle for my trip or if I should just cancel as a precaution so I don’t get sick. Not sure what to do :(

The main out break is not in Seattle but Kirkland- a city East and across a lake from Seattle. And it is has mainly been in One Nursing Home.

Just use common sense- wash hands/cover sneezes & coughs- use wipes if not able to wash hands.

That's totally up to you and whether or not you can enjoy your visit or will be freaked out the whole time.

Seattle is probably less of an issue that the airports.  There are a total of 423 known cases of COVID-19 in the US.  There are about 330 million people in the US.  That's a tiny percentage.  I can pretty much guarantee you that there are already people who have had COVID-19 in every state.  People who got a respiratory "flu" in December and January may well have had COVID-19 and not known it. There is no way to tell if a respiratory illness is a strain of influenza, another strain of cornavirus, COVID-19, or a bacterial infection without testing.  Millions of people traveled through airports where travelers from China also passed through.  The virus can live on surfaces for a few days, so it is very likely millions of people were exposed in December, January, and February.  Things to consider:Will the number of infected people increase? Yes.  Simply by the fact that people are now getting tested.  Will more people get sick. Yes. Just like every other virus, it is very likely more people with be infected and get sick.  Will lots of people die?  Probably not. People with compromised immune systems and existing respiratory problems are at risk of developing pneumonia as a "side effect" of the virus.  Untreated, pneumonia can and will kill people. Does traveling increase your risk of infection? Yes, more exposure to more people and more surfaces other people have touched increases your risk of getting any infectious disease. Are people choosing to cancel travel plans? Yes, many individuals are making the choice to limit their potential exposure.  Some companies are also eliminating all but essential business travel.

You can get a virus Staying at home. Ask any parent of school children.

    Are you in good health?

May want to have a doctors visit first if you have asthma and many other medical conditions that compromise the immune system.

It is true there has been the virus in and near Seattle. MILLIONS living there DO NOT have it.

Your choice. MANY have cancelled and you may find your accommodation place rather empty. The streets are not crowded shopping and wandering for the visitor is less frantic.

MOST with this illness can stay at home and get better on their own much like the more common influenza. SOME get a more severe reaction and their bodies cannot heal for many reasons.

Just like some every year die from the flu. It was measles a few months ago in Airports.

Many companies have altered their client meeting procedures. Is this a business trip a holiday or what?

If meeting others you may want to confirm they will still meet with you.

Healthy people get very mild symptoms. The vulnerable populations are the elderly and those with pre-existing illnesses, such heart disease or diabetes-- and smokers. If you're healthy and your lungs are in good ship, it's not much of a risk to you.

You probably run MUCH higher risk dying in traffic from the airport, than dying from catching Corona virus in Seattle, UNLESS you are over the age of 60 or/and suffer from medical issues, like heart problems, lung disease or similiar...
