WAS A MERCURY car sold ONLY at MERCURY DEALERS! FPD had the EQUIVALENT CROWN VICTORIA model showing its CANADIAN influence I guess! To the OTHER GUY THERE< GM sucks and does NOT stand behind what they BUILD! ALL GM engines were defective made from 1996-2003 with INTAKE GASKET LEAKS and NOW they have BILLION DOLLAR lawsuits for IGNITION SWITCHES that catch on FIRE and for AIR BAG deployment sensors that kill CHILDREN and harm PETS! GM NEVER makes ANYTHING ALL THE WAY >>>to the OTHER gut, the TAURUS is FULL Of major ADVANCES and the V6 engINE is made BULLET PROOF like a BENZ engine lined with SILICON! CAPABLE of 500,000 miles UNLESS RUST gets into it like ONE of our TAURUS cars did! They are SAFE in most CRASH d]conditions and FORD did a SUPERB job of designing it! Even the RADIO will satisfy a CRITICAL EAR like MINE is! USE PENNZOIL ULTRA PLATINUM Or ULTRA EURO in ANY CAR and there will be next to ZERO engine wear or SENSORS issues and CONVERTER problems! FORD did a GREAT JOB with BOTH CARS And I got 32 with our family TARUS with the simple 3.0 V^ engine! GREAT CAARS and drove like a BMW all day long! RUST was the ONLY PROBLEM and both FORD and GM engineers designed the TRANY! It ALSO was BULLETPROOF! ENGINE QUALITY was DYNOMITE! the #.8 had issues but FORSD is more responsible than GM ever was!!! CAn you imagine MILLIONS OF BAD engines from 1996-2003 FOR SIMPLE GASKET ISSUES that they NMEVER STOPPED making! EIGHT YEARS of BAD ENGIENS! That is WHY GM filed for BANJKRUPTCY protection! FORD used the ORANGE coolant as well but used the RIGHT TYPE OF GASKETS to go w=with it! My brother in law paid $2400 to fix his stupid BUICK with the 3,8 engine under the hood! THAT SUCKS!

NO. It was sold at Mercury dealerships. SOME dealers had combined brands and sold Ford, Lincoln AND Mercury from one shop.

Considering Mercury was a division of Ford Motor Company I'm sure the Grand Marquis was sold in Ford dealerships.

Fords sold only at franchised Ford dealers,  Mercury's at franchised Lincoln-Mercury dealerships.  The franchise agreements protected the dealer by not permitting another dealership in the same territory.  BUT in some small towns one dealer had both franchises and all 3 brands sold at one location.
