The "preferences" don't work -- Y!A sends me other people's (subsequent) answers to questions.  I NEVER asked for this and don't want it.?

This is a glitch that is happening to everyone, including myself.  Editing your preferences does not help me.  I do not have that box checked but I still get the same emails so disregard that.

Nothing we can do but wait until Verizon Media fixes this glitch.   I just hope that it is soon.

That is a glitch. You have to wait until they fix it. There is nothing you can do until then.

What's your question? Your post is a rant. WE don't control how YA works or is programmed, but you can ASK us "How do I turn off the email notifications about other people answering a question I answered"? Remember, we're just users here too, and the glitches on the site affect many or all of us as well.

You can always go to the suggestion board https://yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/924010 and see if anyone else has posted about a particular problem (before or after requesting guidance here in the YA subcategory). You can also make your suggestions there or notify YA of a problem on the site (especially if you see others posting about it here in the YA subcategory, but no mention of it on the suggestion board).

If its Email Notifications Yeah its been Screwed up for Months the only thing you can do if Preferences are not Applying is Mark the Messages as Spam

To resolve the problem, go back to the questions you previously answered and uncheck the box next to "Get email notifications when there are new answers to all questions I answered." This should help stop getting the unwanted notices. You can't find it in your settings or preferences.

My experience has been, that it's not a matter of changing your preferences on your profile..........but there's a message that occasionally pops up , after you answer a question, that sez "Please email when someone else answers this question" (or something to that effect)

You have to click on THAT when you see it to stop these damn notifications.

The trouble is.....it only pops up once in a blue moon, and you have to catch it , when it does------because then it won't appear again , for god knows how long.

Right now, I have 800 of them in my in box.......and I can't get rid of them.

I click to delete, and it only delete's ONE at a time.......not ALL of them!!!

I had over 900 of them, before I finally saw the message again, and thank GOD was able to turn the damn thing off.

but now I still have over 800 of them, which I have to delete 1 by 1.

Look for the message after you answer each question......

    It is just another glitch.

Go to preferences check the box marked notify me then uncheck it and save.

    That worked for me.

I'm getting the same crap, and I checked my preferences.  It was already set to not send me other peoples' answers to questions I've answered.  Likewise, I have it set to send me an email with new questions to my saved searches, but I haven't gotten that in years.  I tried toggling each one, saving, and then toggling back and saving again.  We'll see if that fixes it.  I hate how yahoo keeps changing how the site works, "fixing" things that aren't broken, not fixing things that actually are broken, and making "improvements" that nobody asked for.
