It really depends on the job and their operational needs.

that highly varies on your job/field.

i work as a line cook your considered lucky to even get holidays/weekends off yet alone 2 consecutive days off ( 2 days off in a row ). you start at all hours depending where you work at my current job i start at 10am-630pm due to commute i leave at 9am though and i actually rarely finish at 630pm usually i finish about 7pm. i work sunday-thursday so i have fridays and saturdays off but typically it doesn't work like that for us typically we have random days off like at my old jobs i'd have Monday and wednesdays off. Mondays are typically the slowest days in our field thats why.

MANY jobs have weekends off though. my aunty next door has thursdays and sundays off it seems not entirely sure what she does but she is some sort of office worker.

my dad is a self employed contractor and owns his own business but works alone he works monday-saturday and only has sundays off but he starts whenever he wants usually he leaves the house around 1030-11am comes home around 6pm and he can come home or stay home if he wants that just highly varies on where he is at on the job

Yes it's a thing for many jobs, but not all of them.
